Magicard 300 Printer
The Magicard 300 is one of the latest in a long line of excellent direct-to-card printers from Magicard. This card printer offers a great combination of high-resolution printing and impressive printing speeds. Being a Magicard means it offers exceptional security features as standard: they all come with Magicard’s patented HoloKote technology. This prints a transparent image into the overcoat panel, resulting in a frosted secure watermark that can only be seen under special UV lights. If you require further security, you can add the optional HoloPatch – a highly-visible gold foil square.
The 300 also benefits from an all-new data scrambe function wihich as the name suggests, scrambes sensitive information once it’s been printed and renders it irretreivable. This means it’s impossible for the 300 to cause a data breach, an increasingly important consideration as data protection becomes more and more important.
It’s covered under a rigourous 3-year warranty which includes technical support from Magicard. The best part: Right now, Magicard are offering a free dual-sided upgrade on all 300 models. This option usually costs quite a bit more to add to a printer. .
Who should use this printer?
The Magicard 300 is a fantastic printer with a versatile range. It is best suited to those who have some experience with card printers as it is quite advanced in terms of security and features. That’s not to say, beginners cant make good use of this printer. It’s simple to set up and print basic cards but to really get the value of this machine, it would be best suited to high-volume applications with a need for security.
IDP Smart 51 Card Printer
The IDP Smart 51 is a very capable printer. One of the simplest ID card machines to operate, it’s capable of printing monochrome and full-colour cards at very high speeds. The 51 can be upgraded to a dual-sided model with magnetic stripe and smart encoding available also. A 10% increased print speed over its predecessor makes this one of the fastest machines on the market today and an ideal solution for high-volume needs.

For security-conscious organizations, you can upgrade the Printed to the Smart 51 Secure GDPR version. This adds a few additional security features not typically found on card printers.
This includes a lockable top lid which prevents unauthorized access to the printer ribbon which can contain details of previously printed cards. It also features a Kensington lock which ensures the machine cannot be removed from its location without the key.
The 51 comes with an industry-leading 5-year warranty which gives you many years of worry-free printing.
Who should use this printer?
Because the Smart 51 is so easy to use, it’s recommended for beginners and advanced printing applications alike. It offers fantastic, print speed, excellent image quality and a great reliability score. It can be used to print ID Cards, Loyalty, Gift and Membership cards and just about any plastic card you can think of. If you’re new to card printing, this is a great place to start.
Magicard Ultima Printer
Another Magicard printer on this list. The Ultima is a Reverse Transfer (Retransfer) printer perfect for printing high-definition cards. Retransfer printers employ a different method of printing than DTC printers such as our previous two entries which allows for much higher print quality.

The Ultima has all the usual Magicard security features such as Holkote and Holopatch. Retransfer printers can be slightly trickier to use and maintain than their DTC counterparts but luckily Magicards comprehensive support system can help you out if you run into bother.
Of course with such high quality, there must be a caveat, right? Correct, Retransfer printers are significantly more expensive than direct to card printers. So, unless print quality is a huge issue for you, it may not be worth the hefty price tag.
Who should use this printer?
Companies, organisations or people who need the highest quality prints should use the Magicard Ultima. The print results are about the best we’ve seen on any desktop card printer but as mentioned previously, you will pay for these results. Retransfer printers can often be double the price of direct to card printers.
